Chickens, Lines, Hairballs, and your masterpiece…

Today we held practice with another one of my favorite teams. This team only has the gift of three more BTL practice sessions. Bummer for them and for me. This team has a bunch of folks like Bennifer (not her real name) that are ready and willing to lead. She simply needs some building. So…today I acted as if I was.

As her builder it is my responsibility to push Bennifer and people like her out of their own way. Actually, it is my priviledge. I love pushing people that want to get better. I love watching people GROW.

Today I told this team a story about a couple little boys that didn’t want to go to Church one Sunday. So…they feigned being ill. Once Mom and Dad were out of sight, one grabbed the chalk and the other grabbed a chicken. They drew a line across the front porch with the chalk and grabbing a chicken by the neck, they pressed it’s beak down onto the chalk line and held it there for awhile. They let go. The chicken stayed there…beak pressed firmly to the line.

They grabbed another chicken and repeated the process. Pretty soon they had 70 chickens across the front porch all with their beaks pressed firmly ON the line.

Why did I tell them this story that I modified from one that I just read in a great book titled, Orbiting the Giant Hairball, by Gordon MacKenzie?

What does this story have to do with creative genius and painting your masterpiece?

Anyone want to hazard a guess?

Anyone not too chicken?

Beuhler?
