Today, I corrected one of my clients. He said he was stuck. He is not stuck, I told him. He looked at me all kinda confused and pissed off. He told me this practice hasn’t been a positive one for him, he continued. He said he’s not feeling good about it. Good, I told him. You see, my client is struggling to author his worldview and wants to skip the step and get on with something a bit easier. I’m not letting him. He’s not accustomed to people asserting their will over his. He’s frustrated, not stuck.
When you’re stuck, really stuck, you don’t know it. My client knows he has a problem. He is not the man he wants to be. He is not the husband he wants to be. He is not the father he wants to be. He is not the president he wants to be. He is not the partner he wants to be. He is not the neighbor he wants to be. He is not the believer he wants to be. He is not stuck. He is not yet.
Not yet.
He is becoming a better and clearer man. He is uncomfortable in the process of becoming aware of his gaps. This is progress. This is painful. He is frustrated and not quitting. Better is around the corner.
The problem with most folks is they don’t know they’ve got a problem. They see everybody else’s with 20/20 clarity, their own, not so much. Becoming BTL is frustrating and painful as you, first, become aware of your need for deep change and slowly step into it building your CORE. However, once you build this kinda anchor within, it gets easier and easier to turn frustration into fuel for getting better. Deep change takes root and there is no turning back. Bitter is replaced with better.
Today, I corrected my client. He is not stuck. He is frustrated. I helped him see “why” this is progress, this is good, and he’s actually on his way. I’m on my way to my next client with a smile of satisfaction and a sense of another great day ahead living out my purpose.
Where you headed, my friend? Where you headed? Remember the road to the top is laced with frustration. Frustration isn’t the problem. Getting stuck is. Turn your frustration into PA, my friend. Do not STOP. Get going. We’ve got some climbing to do…
