I have a client who keeps thanking me for stuff that I’m not sure I deserve credit for. It feels really good, however. So, leader, remember to be more of a conduit than a cul-de-sac when it comes to taking credit. A conduit lets the complement flow through them. A cul-de-sac acts like a dead end. The complement, if you will, has no where else to go.
The best leaders are conduit’s with complements and cul-de-sac’s when it comes to taking responsibility. Don’t make the mistake of mixing these up. Let taking credit for the good things pass right on through you. Be a conduit with complements. God, help me remember to pass it along when it comes to taking credit. God, help me…
