“People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.” Maya Angelou
Today, we practiced giving teammates our esteem. We tried to make them feel encouraged by our words. We sincerely complemented those around us. We did not offer flattery or puffery. We chose our words carefully and spoke from our heart. I esteemed a few teammates. One, in particular, received it well. He let my words in and it changed his heart.
Remember, the Latin word Cor means heart. To have courage means to have heart. The word discourage means to take heart and the word encourage means to give heart. We need more leaders who have and give heart. Your words matter, leader. The way you choose them matters more. The emotion, tone, and body language leave more of a mark than you think.
Everything rises and falls on leadership. How, leader, do you leave people feeling?
