You choose. Your choices have consequences. Everyday you and I choose. Every hour, we choose. This moment you and I have choices. Yesterday during practice 267 with a team titled appropriately Choice Recovery, we did a few exercises to make us think. Funny that many were going through the motions when learning from one of their own at the start of practice. He was sharing recent learning from a choice he made to read a book as he journeyed toward mastering his craft. I mean even one of my all time favorites, was daydreaming as her teammate poured out his heart. Turns out it IS really hard to tune in to learning when we’ve chosen to tune into so much drama.

You choose. Your choices have consequences. Sit with this for awhile, friend.

Everyday you and I choose. Most moments come and go without much awareness. Most hours as well. For many, just waiting for the weekend, is the soundtrack of their life. The entire world, it seems, is espousing mindfulness as they miss the moment. Yesterday’s practice got heated when I pushed buttons and called out a few for thinking irrationally. This is why social media is so addicting, friend. Do you see it?

Today, choose to turn down the drama dial and turn up your learning frequency. Life is not measured in outcomes, is it? Misery rarely lasts more than a moment of two when measured properly across the continuum of time. Today, choose to practice gratitude, instead of marrying false platitudes. Find someone and something to place in your working memory and marinate in the good instead of getting mired in the ever present mud. The grass, remember, is not greener on the other side. The grass is greener where you water it. What, friend, are you watering?

God, help me marinate on your blessings; my bummers, not so much. God, help me model the way, embrace pain and suffering, and embody truth in love. God, help me live out the BTL purpose and “together awaken, challenge, and transform a few individuals, teams, and leaders from a lone toward all one – one L of a difference. One, distinct and deeply connected, becoming BTL. Together we transform. Always together.” God, help me remain grateful on this journey regardless the obstacles in the way. God, help me change my mind and see these obstacles as the way. God, help me make better choices in this moment.

God, help me tune into learning and not get distracted with drama. God, help us all…
