A new BTL Builder shadowed me recently and wrote me his observations from a day of practice. Lots of good stuff. One surprising.
He told me he was surprised how much time I spent affirming my clients. I was surprised at this too. He wrote out examples. Turns out very little were words. He picked up on some of the words, for sure. It was mostly body language. Smiles. Leans in. Curiosity. Caring. Being with without judging. He shared these were much more prolific than the moments of truth when I brought a hammer to the party. This. Made. Me. Smile.
Your team needs your belief, leader. Affirm them. Give them the gift of your belief. Cannot be faked. Cannot be legislated or pre-programmed. Cannot be forced. Can be given when coming from your heart. Get your ratio’s right. Damn.
