What more…

The most read post on the BTL blog is this one from 2008. Today, I felt the need to read this to one of my best friends. I knew they wouldn’t just like it. I knew they would love it. I wanted them to know how much I get them and how much I care for them. I mean, when you think about it, what more can hearts desire, friend. What more…

I just read “Into the Wild,” by Jon Krakauer. I guess you could say that Chris McCandless has gotten under my skin. Chris was a reader and one of his last books to read was Tolstoy’s “Family Happiness.”

Here’s a piece from Tolstoy’s book worth remembering.

“I have lived through much, and now I think I have found what is needed for happiness. A quiet secluded life in the country, with the possibility of being useful to people to whom it is easy to do good, and who are not accustomed to have it done to them; then work which one hopes may be of some use; then rest, nature, books, music, love for one’s neighbor – such is my idea of happiness. And then, on top of all that, you for a mate, and children, perhaps – what more can the heart of a man desire?”

What a GREAT question…
