July 24, 1982. Beautiful, sunny, warm day. Miss and I were 23 and 20. Didn’t know much. Didn’t have much. Didn’t matter. We said our vows, hopped in the 1979 RX-7 and bee lined it for Kiawah Island, SC. I got burned like a lobster. Had a lot to learn, you know, about just about everything. Miss held my hand. Together, we transformed. Always together…

July 24, 2021. Beautiful, sunny, warm day.

Not much has changed and everything’s changed. My skins been cut 63 times. I no longer get sunburned, you know. My hearts been hurt and healed countless times. Missi’s too. We’ve learned how to love one another. She’s a better student of me than I of her. I’m still learning things she’s known for decades. Her hand and heart are my constant companion. I do know this after all these years. Together, we are better. Miss is my constant and I’m learning to be more grateful and take less for granted. I still have much to learn, but I do know this. Life is meant to be shared and it’s meant to be hard too. Home, remember, is where the heart and hurt live. Embrace this. Embrace each other. Thanks, Miss, for being my constant for 41 and my bride for 39.

Live hard. Love harder…
