40…

Today we celebrated practice 40 with OSU Head Coaches. I did what I always do on practice 40 with whatever team hits this milestone. We listen to the song 40, by U2. I make them write what they heard and why they think they’re hearing it in BTL team practice 40. Almost nobody ever gets the why behind this ritual of ours. Here’s the ccd version of what I told them.

40 is a song written by Bono that is his interpretation of Psalm 40. He and his band of 4 sing their song exactly the way they want to. Been doing it this way for over 40 years. This is the power of a strong CORE, especially a crystal clear belief system (worldview). U2 doesn’t have to think before they decide what to stand for. Their collective strong CORE’s have preloaded the playlist, so to speak. They sing exactly the songs they want to sing. The audience comes to them. I want my clients to understand if U2 can do it, U can too.

As for me, I’m committed to our song and it goes something like this – “Together we Awaken, Challenge, and Transform a few individuals, teams, and leaders from a lone toward all one. One L of a difference. Together we transform. Always together.” Practice one, 40, or 400. You will hear me singing our song…
